Fixing things that are broke…
When people ask what I do, I usually just say that I’m a “Software Developer” since most people understand what that is, and that’s what I used to do full time. In reality, I’m a Jack-of-all-trades and now spend most of my time managing infrastructure at the company I work for.
…breaking things that aren’t.
Ever since I was a kid I would take things apart. I like to know what makes things tick, how they work, and sometimes you need to crack them open to find out. Whether it’s a server, software, door lock, or whatever happens to be behind the sign that says “Do Not Open”, I’ve always been a tinkerer/hacker. At some point I’d like to work on those things full time.
At the end of the day, I just want to solve hard problems, play with fun tools, and work with incredibly smart people. Is that asking too much? 🙂
